UVM now offers free access to BioRender: https://dana.uvm.edu/news/create-professional-scientific-figures-biorender. It has lots of stock images to help make illustrations and cartoons for science articles. It seems more valuable for basic and bench-to-bedside research rather than population or policy work, but you never know....
