Purpose

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) mission is to produce evidence to make health care safer, higher quality, more accessible, equitable, and affordable. AHRQ works within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and with other partners to assure that the evidence is understood and used.

AHRQ intends to publish a Request for Applications (RFA) to disseminate and implement patient-centered outcome research (PCOR) findings into primary care practices, with a focus on improving heart health, and developing sustainable, primary care quality improvement (QI) capacity within states.

Applicants will be expected to establish multi-organizational partnerships that will support AHRQ's role to disseminate and implement patient-centered outcomes research. It will align with Million Hearts 2022 and is intended to support efforts of the Department of Health and Human Services.

This notice encourages investigators with appropriate expertise and insights to begin to consider applying for this RFA.

RAND HRS Longitudinal 2016 and RAND HRS 2016 Fat Files Available

The RAND HRS Longitudinal 2016 and RAND HRS 2016 Fat Files are now available on the HRS website.
 
The RAND HRS Longitudinal File 2016 (V1) is a user-friendly file derived from all waves of the HRS. It is a respondent-level file containing cleaned and processed variables with consistent naming conventions, model-based imputations for missing data, and spousal counterparts of most individual-level variables.
 
The RAND HRS 2016 Fat File contains most of the original HRS variables with household data merged to the respondent-level. There is one file for each survey year. Currently, there are files for 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016.
 
The RAND HRS data files are available in SAS, SPSS and STATA formats and include corresponding data documentation.
 
The RAND Center for the Study of Aging creates the RAND HRS data products under subcontract from HRS. The HRS and the RAND products are supported by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the Social Security Administration (SSA). Please refer to the RAND HRS Longitudinal File 2016 (V1) Documentation and RAND HRS Fat Files README for more information about these data products.

American Heart Association Research Funding

The American Heart Association has recently posted 2019-2020 Research Funding Program Deadlines and Descriptions.  
AHA awards are open to an array of academic and health professionals. This includes but is not limited to all academic disciplines (biology, chemistry, mathematics, technology, physics, etc.) and all health-related professions (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, dentists, physical and occupational therapists, statisticians, nutritionists, etc.).

Daniel Douce at Fellows' Research Day

Daniel Douce, MD, MS, was one of only three selected to present at yesterday's UVM Department of Medicine Fellows' Research Day. He did an excellent job reprising his presentation from the 2017 American Society of Hematology National Meeting in Atlanta.  Congrats, Dan!

CTS Faculty Charles MacLean and Amanda Kennedy were co-authors on several of the abstracts. As Chair of the Fellowship Research Committee, Dr. Kennedy was also MC for the event.
