Dear Benjamin, We recognize that many things are changing as the world responds to the COVID-19 outbreak. Like many of you, the IPUMS team has been setting up remote workstations in our home offices, living rooms, and kitchens. Thank you for your patience as we adapt our systems to coordinate the provision of IPUMS data and services from our new satellite offices instead of our centralized bunker at the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis campus. We realize that many IPUMS users are transitioning to alternate instruction methods to support distance learning. We want to bring your attention to existing teaching resources available through IPUMS: introductory webinars, online tutorials for getting started on IPUMS, and data training exercises for many of our projects. We've also created a new category on the IPUMS forum for online learning for you to post questions. We'd like your input. If you teach students, please take a moment to complete a survey to tell us about what additional resources would be most useful to you. Do you have resources to share? Through the survey, you can also upload or share information about the teaching resources you have created using IPUMS data. We will update the teaching resources page with new resources from users and developed by IPUMS staff. Thank you for helping us support users who teach as they transition to new modes of instruction. We hope you stay safe and well, and, as always, use it for good! The IPUMS Team |
