New NHATS COVID-19 Files Released

The National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS) is pleased to announce that new COVID-19 files are now available.

Users may now apply for access to the NHATS COVID-19 Family Members and Friends (FF) Beta file under NHATS’ sensitive data procedures available at https://www.nhats.org/researcher/data-access/sensitive-data-files?id=nsoc_other_sensitive_files. This file provides new data about the experiences of family members and friends who helped NHATS participants during the COVID-19 outbreak. SAS and Stata versions are available. An updated user guide and variable-instrument crosswalk can be found at https://www.nhats.org/researcher/nhats. The NHATS COVID-19 FF Beta file may be used in conjunction with the early release beta version of the COVID-19 Sample Person (SP) file (available under Public Use Files).

In addition, users may now apply for access through the NHATS restricted data repository to a qualitative file with transcribed responses about how COVID-19 has affected NHATS participants’ lives. More information about how to apply for and access these files is available at https://www.nhats.org/researcher/data-access/sensitive-data-files?id=restricted_data_files.
