1. Warm Up: Great to see such a strong Specific Aims page!
2. Nancy: exercise program for remote delivery to rural, older cancer survivors: physical activity is generally lower in CA survivors, and they tend to have worse physical function. This is a study to see if more PA improves their physical function.
a. Does reference to the underserved in healthcare access help support the focus or distract from first para?
b. Consider quantifying the impact: number of people affected
c. Consider expanding the population of interest: NCI is interested in younger populations too
i. Limit the cancers of interest; include metastatic cancer? Exclude non-melanoma skin cancer?
ii. Add a life expectancy of at least 10 months? Alternatively, don’t worry about this and add Stage IV cancer
iii. Is Stage I going to help determine a difference?
iv. Specify “completed adjuvant chemotherapy” – what does “completed” mean?
d. Tighten wording
e. Consider asking for medical clearance as an inclusion criterion
f. Consider adding a wait list as incentive for those in the control group to increase retention, in addition to the “attention” placebo
g. “integrate multidisciplinary expertise” – needed phrase?
h. Consider adding to secondary outcomes, e.g. self-reported falls, symptoms, and new diagnoses
i. Recast Aim 2 as “physical activity,” to separate from Aim 1 “physical function”
ii. Do not use “primary outcome” vs “secondary outcomes” as the basis for differentiating Aim 1 froom Aim 2
i. Barriers are identified at the end of the page; consider moving up to second para
3. Next week: TBD
