FW: Connect graduate students to the Graduate Writing Center

Connect your graduate students to the Graduate Writing Center!

If you teach and mentor UVM graduate students, please let them know about the Graduate Writing Center, opening for the Spring 2022 semester on January 17. Our graduate writing consultants from programs in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities are trained to work with their peers at any stage of a project, from initial planning to final edits and at all stages of a graduate program. Thanks to funding from the Graduate College, our services are free to all UVM graduate students.

Scheduling an appointment is easy via uvm.mywconline.net where students can choose from

  • Individual in-person appointment in the Graduate Writing Center suite on the ground floor of Howe Library.
  • Individual and group online appointment via Teams.
  • Review and Meet appointment, in person or online, for students with longer drafts (up to 20 pages). The consultant will spend the Review appointment reading the draft and preparing for conversation with the writer during the Meet appointment.
  • Email feedback letter (up to 12 pages) for graduate students who are unable to meet synchronously.
  • Online writing retreat, Wednesdays 3-5pm on Teams.

Below is a short description of the Graduate Writing Center you can share on syllabi, course Blackboards, and program websites. You can also encourage students to visit our website at uvm.edu/gradwriting or watch for Graduate College weekly newsletter announcements about special-topic workshops.
